TIPPECANOE & TYLER TOO! One of the most famous elections mottos of all time in a rare full page patriotic poster announcing the 1840 Whig victory.
The November 6 edition features a rare full-page announcement, "The Whig Banner floats in Triumph over the EMPIRE STATE," above a patriotic eagle with "A Pledge of Better Times" between its wings and on the banner in its beak, "As goes the Empire State, so goes the Union." At bottom, "There is a Majority in Every War in the city of Albany, for 'TIPPECANOE & TYLER TOO.'" Inside are partial election results from around New York and the nation, and in the next issue, printed four days later, full results, and commentary on the election praising the victory of "The Soldier, General, and Statesman, WILLIAM HENRY HARRISON," over the Empire State's "recreant son," Martin Van Buren.
