Latin America, Mexico, ca. 17th century CE. Rare carved church staff or ornament depicting a standing bishop. He stands wearing cape and distinctive bishop's miter, ornate floral pattern surrounding him, candle-stick support and wide octagonal base. Lovely old patina! Size: 16.75" H (42.5 cm)

Provenance: ex-private collection of Lupita Tovar, silent screen actress of the 1930's, Bel-Air, California, USA
