Dated 1852 AD. A steel positive hub to produce dies for a 'To Hanover' type token or medalet. Obv: profile bust with date below and VICTORIA DEI GRATIA legend; stamped on two sides with 'BERTHOD'. See Hawkins, R. N. P., 'To Hanover' Tokens, NC 6th, vol.XIX, 1959 pp.203-240 and pl.XIX for information on the series. 180 grams, 30mm square base. . In the minting of coins and medals, a positive master hub is produced and hardened and this in turn is used to make the negative working dies from which the finished tokens or medals are then struck. [No Reserve]
