Description
**First Time At Auction**
Ancient Near East, Iran, Amlash culture, ca. 13th to 10th century BCE. A beautifully-preserved example of a short spear head. Triangular, and with a pronounced mid-rib, this would have been attached by its long tang to a wooden handle. The edges retain their deadly sharpness. Size: 7.6" L x 1.3" W (19.3 cm x 3.3 cm)
Ancient Iran was rich in dramatic bronze creations. A class of nomadic horse lords and ladies commissioned bronze items from artisans in urban centers. Cast in a single piece using the lost wax casting technique, this weapon and ones like it ultimately came to grace the graves of elite warriors.
Provenance: Whisnant Gallery, New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, acquired over twenty years ago
All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.
We ship worldwide to most countries and handle all shipping in-house for your convenience.
