AMERICAN LINEN PLAIN-WEAVE HAND TOWEL / SHOW TOWEL, with cotton, wool and silk cross-stitch, running-stitch, herringbone-stitch and overcast-stitch embroidery, rectangular, with hemmed right edge and selvage left edge, top and bottom edge having fringe with whip stitching; top design featuring zig-zag border with thread marker lines above and below, name "Susana Miller" flanked and divided by heart stars, above central flowering tulip plant in tall handled urn surrounded by field of smaller flowering carnation plants above four stylized heart flower plants alongside with flowering plants in urns at corners, bar and block border underneath, and in center of panel are two zig-zag borders followed by a bar and block border, at bottom are pairs of zig-zag borders. Likely Pennsylvania. First half 19th century. 44 7/8" x 17" OA.
