Description
Nepal, 19th century CE. Very fine wooden mask representing a fanged demon. Worn by shamans, mask such as this were sued to exorcise evil spirits from the community. Wide oval face with rounded eyes upturned at the corners, thin mustache and large fangs hanging from the upper jaw. Nice patina on inside from being worn. One of my favorites of the collection! Size: 8.5" W x 10.5" H (21.6 cm x 26.7 cm)
