Description
Albert Wasserman, original on canvas – matted and professionally framed. Portrait was shown at National Academy of Design in 1940 and depicts a young woman named Jean. The portrait is signed in the top-left corner and comes in a wooden frame. Measures approx 20” inches length, 24” inches in height, and 2” inches in width. Property of Brooklyn Estate. He attended the National Academy of Design and studied with Sidney E. Dickenson and Ivan Olinsky. He also studied at the Art Student’s League with Charles S. Chapman until he was drafted into the Army during WWII. He won a Pulitzer Art Scholarship in 1940 and he won the Obrig Prize in 1941. He was an incredibly prolific artist and considered himself a Realist – impressionist; painting people, portraits and the life around himself. Most of his work is in oil or watercolor and is done from life. He was a member of the Salmagundi Club where he won numerous prizes.
