Description
Albert Wasserman, original – matted and professionally framed. Portrait depicts several passengers on the NYC subway system. The portrait is signed by the artist in the bottom- middle of the piece and comes in a silver colored metal frame. Measures approx 19 ½’” in length, 24 1/2” inches in height, and 2” inches in width. Graduated from Evander Childs High School, Bronx, NY. He attended the National Academy of Design and studied with Sidney E. Dickenson and Ivan Olinsky. He also studied at the Art Student’s League with Charles S. Chapman until he was drafted into the Army during WWII. He won a Pulitzer Art Scholarship in 1940 and he won the Obrig Prize in 1941. He was an incredibly prolific artist and considered himself a Realist – impressionist; painting people, portraits and the life around himself. Most of his work is in oil or watercolor and is done from life. He was a member of the Salmagundi Club where he won numerous prizes.
