Description
New World, Spanish Colonial Period, ca. 18th to early 19th century CE. A beautiful silver bowl in a form that in Classical times was called a kylix. The bowl sits on a diminutive round foot and has two matched handles on either side in the form of lizards or seahorses. The bowl has been hammered into shape and may have been used in a church for holding holy water. Size: 8" L x 6.2" W x 2.7" H (20.3 cm x 15.7 cm x 6.9 cm) (246.3 g)
