Description
Spanish Colonial, ca. 1850 CE. Early sterling silver circular charger with a scalloped edge and a visible center mark. This charger also shows evidence of annealing, a heat process whereby a metal is heated to a specific temperature/color and then allowed to cool slowly, which softens the metal so that it can be cut and shaped more easily. Wonderful lion's head detailing on each handle. Silver weight: 35 ounces/980 grams of .925 silver. Size: 16-1/2" handle to handle (41.2 cm), charger itself is 11-1/2" at widest diameter (29.2 cm).
