AN AMERICAN ROCOCO REVIVAL LAMINATE ROSEWOOD CANAPÉ IN THE "ROSALIE" PATTERN WITH GRAPES, ATTRIBUTED TO JOHN HENRY BELTER (American/German 1804-1863) CIRCA 1850, NEW YORK, the triple crests with profuse flower bloom and fruit relief details above swirled arches, over an upholstered gondola style back, above a serpentine bench seat, in yellow grosgrain silk upholstery, within serpentine arms, on flower bloom carved knees on cabriole legs ending in leafy scrolled feet, terminating in wood casters, joined by a shaped skirt centering flower bloom tendrils and adorsed "C" scrolls. Height: 40 1/2" Width: 69" Depth: 20"
Condition
There are occasional minor chips, some crazing and rubbing of finish, and expected mild scratches and wear to the surface. The upholstery has some minor staining, but otherwise in very good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
