third quarter 19th century, attributed to John Henry Belter, New York, the back with corset-form upholstery set in a pierced and carved foliate frame, supporting an applied rose-, leaf- and acorn-carved crest, the closed arms with scroll ends, with serpentine front seat rail and cabriole legs ending in French toes, now upholstered in claret velvet.
