Southern Market Rosewood Tester Bed

third quarter 19th century, signed "C. Lee", for the Manchester, New Hampshire, shop of Charles Lee, the cyma-molded tester supported by tapering fluted posts joined to a paneled headboard with a shell-, cabochon- and fruit-carved crest, the scalloped rails with a central carved cartouche.
h. 114", inside w. 65", l. 75", outside w. 72", l. 83"

Condition

In good overall condition. Scattered nicks, dings, and small veneer losses along the top edge of the rails. The canopy is a professional cabinet shop replacement. Some crazing to the finish from age but retains a good overall patina. The posts and rails tighten up firmly when assembled. Minor rubs to the posts and rails.
