A pre-Columbian canopa, Northern Peru, circa 1300 - 1500 A.D. A nicely carved stone canopa or votive offering of an Alpaca with hollowed out hole on the back. Long neck with carved face and rear tail. These votives were used to make offerings to Pacchamama in order to ensure fertility and a healthy harvest. The opening has remains of the tallow offering. Dimensions: 4-1/2" L; Weight; 7 oz. Provenance: Ex. private collection, Midwest, USA
