Description
Pre-Columbian, Central Peru, Incan Empire, ca. 1200 - 1500 CE. This black-and-white carved marble votive vessel in the form of a llama features a slightly rounded but still stable bottom, smooth and rounded sides, a thick neck with a detailed head, a stubby flattened tail, and a hole in the back meant to hold offerings to Pachamama, the Incan goddess of harvests and fertility. Size: 3.5" L x 1.75" W x 2.5" H (8.9 cm x 4.4 cm x 6.4 cm).
