Details: 3Pcs This lot consists of antique black or black leather percussion cap boxes. The rear belt strap loops, latch tabs and filials are intact on all pieces which date to circa 1861 and later. This lot is from the estate of a well-known and well-respected lifetime Civil War collector in Upstate New York. Worth Auctions will feature scores of antique weapons, paintings, and unusual items.

One box has a handsome stamp on the outer scalloped edge flap which reads "NAVY YARD N.Y. 1861" inside an oval as well as decorative 4-point stars on the sides. This piece has a single wide strap loop on the rear. The other two have makers marks stamped on the inner flaps which both read “BAKER & MCKENNEY N-Y”. One of those pieces has some wool still inside.

The two McKenney boxes measure up to approximately 3.5” x 3.5”. The navy yard box measures approximately 4.5" x 3.5".

Condition / Notes: These items show a typical range of period wear, age and handling which may include patina, abrasions, rust, flaking or cracking to leather, and soiling. These are handsome functional boxes with slight flaking to the leather at flexible places as can be expected for their age.
