Details: 2Pcs This lot consists of an antique or vintage dark blue Civil War uniform top with gold color buttons and a pair of sky blue reenactment pants. This lot is from the estate of a well-known and well-respected lifetime Civil War collector in Upstate New York. Worth Auctions will feature scores of antique weapons, paintings, and unusual items.

The unlined coat, made of dark blue very fine wool or similar fabric, has 5 buttons on the front and 3 on each coat cuff, pointed collar, and interior left breast pocket. The button panel, sides and back are from separate cuts of cloth. Hand-sewn repairs to a small rip are visible to the seams on the rear of the coat in and near the left armpit and in the right armpit. The interior of the cuffs is lined with white and olive fabric. Measurements are approximately 18" W x 26" L with 29.5" arm measured from the neck down the shoulder.

The jacket buttons all show the Federal Eagle facing its right with olive branch in right talon and breast shield. The backmarks read "SCOVIlL MF'G CO. WATERBURY" or "HORSTMANN PHILA". They measure 23mm and 16mm in diameter.

The wool pants have a 4 button fly and buttons all around the waist. The rear of the waist has an open "V" with two perforations on either side for closure or an attachment. The buttons are of plain grey metal with raised rim and thread holes. White fabric lines the interior of the waistband, fly and pockets. A small size tag sewn into the waistband reads "48". Measurements are approximately 48" x 32" with a 14" rise between groin seam and top of waistband.

Condition / Notes: These uniform pieces show a typical range of period wear, age and handling which may include patina, abrasions, rust, loose stitches or weave and soiling. The pants are in excellent condition. The coat has the handmade rip and seam repairs noted in the description, with minor wear or soiling on the collar and several small nips to the fabric on the front and sleeves. Please see photos.
