Description
CLYDE MCPHATTER
(1932 - 1972) American R&B, soul and rock 'n' roll singer. He was perhaps the most widely imitated R&B singer of the 1950s and early 1960s, making him a key figure in the shaping of doo-wop and R&B. His high-pitched tenor voice was steeped in the gospel music he sang in much of his younger life. Best known for his solo hit "A Lover's Question". McPhatter's mismanaged career led to alcoholism and his eventual death. Rare inscribed and signed color postcard photo, 3 1/2" x 5", shows the artist full length, signed in black ink. McPhatter's last name was penned across his black slacks but is certainly present. With COA by widely-recognized expert Roger Epperson / REAL.
