DIANA ROSS "THEME FROM MAHOGANY ("DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOU'RE GOING TO") OUTTAKES MASTER REEL
A unique and desirable music relic, an original 10" dia. Ampex master tape reel, containing outtakes from the track "Theme From Mahogany (Do You Know Where You're Going To)", recorded by legendary singer DIANA ROSS (b. 1944) for the 1975 film "Mahogany". The metal reel itself is labeled in black ink: "Diana Ross - Reel II - (Takes) 6-13 - Do You Know - 15 I.P.S. - Copy", while the paperboard case is similarly marked on the front cover and spine, adding the date "1/10/75". The song was released by Motown Records, and the tape reel presented here was most likely recorded at their studios. The song was originally recorded by fellow Motown artist Thelma Houston, and then by Ross for the film "Mahogany", starring Ross as a poor African-American woman who becomes a successful Rome fashion designer. The case bears minor bumps to the corners, but the reel itself is in fine condition.
