JOHN NIXON AND DAVID RITTENHOUSE
JOHN NIXON (1733 - 1808) Revolutionary patriot and financier, member of the Committee of Correspondence, with Washington at Trenton, and was the first to publicly read the Declaration of Independence. War-date manuscript D.S. in the hand of DAVID RITTENHOUSE (1732-1796), 1p. 12mo., Philadelphia, Mar. 13, 1780, an order that Walter Hall be paid 400 pounds for services rendered. Very good. Rittenhouse was Treasurer of Pennsylvania, and president of the Council of Safety. Also signed by J. M. NESBITT (1728-1802) who helped form the Bank of North America. Reinforced folds, still very good.
