(1736 - 1822) Revolutionary War officer, member of the Continental Congress and Committee of Safety, served directly under Washington. Manuscript D.S., 1p. 12mo., Hartford, Aug. 9, 1773, certification that a school had been maintained in Hartford by " an accomplished school master for eleven months in AD 1772" and instructing that monies due to the school district be paid. Small cello tape stain at right margin, corner clipped, else very good.
