Description
Lovely Egyptian turquoise beaded necklace of tube, disc, and melon beads, and with a faience amulet of Imsety, Late Period, c. 664 - 30 BC, which was one of the four Sons of Horus. The beads are of various shapes and sizes and well preserved with good color and surfaces despite their age. The Sons of Horus amulets protected the various parts of the internal organs of the deceased, Imsety protected the liver, and evolved from the traditional set of Canopic Jars. This late example of this amulet would have been intended to be sewn into mummy wrappings. L: about 39 1/8 in (99.4cm). Ex collection of Herb Goldfarb, New York. Mr. Goldfarb was the owner of Aladdin's Antiques in Brooklyn, New York in the 1950's to 1969 before moving from New York City and opening a smaller antique shop.
