Details: Antique Boxed c. 1937 Brandis U.S. Navy sextant.

This original boxed Brandis nautical navigation sextant contains a complete sextant and set of accessories. Also contains two original inspection certificates, documenting US Naval Observatory eccentricity correction; one dated August 2nd, 1937, and one dated August 16th, 1935. Brass and black enameled finish. Storage box is constructed of wood; the key to the box is not present.

This lot is from the estate of a very well-known and well-respected lifetime Civil War collector in Upstate New York. Condition / Notes: This boxed sextant set shows handsomely, with mild to moderate age and wear. There is a broken hinge on the box, due to stripped screws. The original screws are in the box. Very complete, appears to have all parts and accessories. The two certification documents are showing moderate age, toning and creasing. Box has some rubbing and scratches.
