Details: This lot consists of an 1860 presidential campaign button with two tintype portraits of the Northern Democratic candidates Stephen A. Douglas and his running mate Herschel V. Johnson who lost to Republican nominees Abraham Lincoln and Hannibal Hamlin. The token has smooth edges and lists the candidates names on the appropriate side with the year "1860". There is a hole drilled near the top for hanging the button as a pendant.

This piece measures 24mm (1") in diameter.
