Description
A fine framed builder photograph of the G. F. Ward. The frame measures 30" by 24" The mat measures 25 1/2" by 20" and the actual print measures 21" by 14 1/2". The G. F. Ward was built for the New York Providence & Boston Railroad in 1880. It was build by Mason in Providence, Rhode Island. The mat states Providence Locomotive Works, Providence, Rhode Island. This line ran from a ferry on the Thames River to Providence and was an important early route between Boston & New York. The river was not bridged until 1888. The New York Providence & Boston ended up in the New Haven system.
