Description
An attractive pair of Mayan ceramic whistles, c. AD 600 - 900, the first in the shape of a frog with nice detail, L: 3 7/8 in (9.8 cm), the second whistle in the form of a snail or hermit crab, with fore-part of the animal with detailed features emerging from a shell with near pointed end. L: 2 1/4 in (5.7 cm). A very cute pair of whistles, each with light deposits. Both Ex Colosseum Coin Exchange, the frog whistle purchased Oct. 1989, the snail whistle purchased Jan. 1986.
