**First Time At Auction**
Native American, United States, Missouri, Transitional Archaic Period, ca. 1st millennium CE. An attractive pair of hand-knapped stone spear tips, each boasting a massive size and a lanceolate form. Presenting mottled hues of caramel and butterscotch, the slightly larger weapon displays a triangular shape with a straight blade, a flat base, and a horizontal transverse flaking pattern forming an elliptical cross section. Alternatively, the other spear tip features shades of ash gray, cream, and tea rose, while presenting an ovate shape with a convex base and an inward recurvate blade. Size of largest: 2" W x 5.7" H (5.1 cm x 14.5 cm)
Provenance: private Kansas City, Missouri, USA collection, ex-John Townsend collection, formed in the 1970's and earlier
