John Rogers Figural Group, "The Wounded Scout," 19th c., patinated plaster, on an integral base, H.- 22 1/4 in., W.- 11 1/4 in., D.- 9 in.
Condition
Condition consistent with age and use. Moderate to heavy flaking to the patination intermittently throughout. Plaster visible along front edge of base, blades of grass, the snake, and the proper right foot and proper left leg of the figure on the right. A 1 inch chip on the back edge of the base. A pea-size and ½ inch chip to the proper left hand of the left figure. Slight greenish discoloration to the figures' faces and arms. A blade of grass lacking from the base. Short hairline crack on the top of the left figure's proper left cuff. Patination also slightly lighter but no apparent repair. A fascinating scene.
