BADER DOUGLAS: (1910-1982) British World War II Ace (22.5 victories), recognised for his important role during the Battle of Britain. First Day Cover issued by the Royal Air Force, Uxbridge and commemorating the 31st Anniversary of the Battle of Britain, 18th September 1971, featuring a colour image of a Supermarine Spitfire aircraft in flight, post marked 20th September 1969. Signed ('Douglas Bader') in blue ink with his name alone to a clear area of the cover. Together with a printed 8vo programme for the official opening of Meadowcroft County Junior School, Aylesbury, 1st May 1969, at which Bader is to give the Address.
