Description
This is an exceptional early Iroquois Native American Indian ball head war club with spontoon spike. The war club shows a solid wood construction with rich wood grain and early patina. The piece is from the 19th century and shows overall museum quality condition. The spike shows a Revolutionary War style spontoon iron blade. War clubs such as this were used by the Eastern Woodland Great Lakes tribes in the 19th century and are of an exceptional rarity and value. It measures 3.25" in diameter and is 24.25" long. Exact age of the spike is unknown. Provenance: From a large private Native American Indian artifact collection in Saskatchewan, Canada.
