Choice Early British Naval Axe with Nicely Shaped Head
c. 1790 early 19th Century, British Naval Axe with Spike shaped Head, Used, Fine.
A complete example of this Naval Edged Weapon that measures 15.75" long by its wooden handle and 7" long across the head, with a 2.25" edge to the naval axe blade. A stamped "N" on the side of the blade (either the maker's mark or "N" for Navy). The steel surface has heavy natural patina from age. The wooden handle is its original and also has heavy dark surface feel and natural patina. It is attached to the shaped head with two supporting steel side straps solidly riveted to each side of the neck. This axe has a heavy heft.
