Mid 17th Century, Iron Axe Head Hand-Wrought with Maker's Mark, Very Fine.
This heavy solid Iron Axe Head has a smooth dark natural patina from age with its Maker's Mark on right side of head. The distance from the poll or butt of the axe to the furthest point on the blade measures a large 7" and the cutting edge measures 5". This is a hefty Axe Head weighing in at 3.25 pounds. No doubt, the damage this axe head could do to a person when used as a weapon is fearsome.
