Description
Authentic original Pawnee Missouri Native American Indian War Axe Tomahawk. The piece dates to circa 1860-1870. This shows a hand forged blade with weeping hear cut out. The wood haft is adorned with old brass tacks and shows an excellent patina and signs of use. The head is secured to the haft with wood wedges and brass tacks. The haft also shows a slight curve. This is truly an exceptional rare and important authentic war weapon. Provenance: From the personal collection of renowned collector and foremost expert on war clubs and tomahawks, Mark Francis. The Francis collection piece has been authenticated. The piece is also from the Wellington ex collection. One of the finest examples of a Pawnee war relic made available for public purchase. Truly a fantastic museum quality piece. The head has been cleaned by a previous collector. The war axe measures 7.75" x 20".
