BUFFALO POTTERY BLUE WILLOW SCALLOPED CERAMIC SERVING ARTICLES, LOT OF THREE, comprising one 11" x 9 1/2" covered vegetable dish; one 11 1/4" x 9 1/4" platter; and one 14 1/8" x 11 1/2" platter; all having a blue chinoiserie transfer design in the "Blue Willow" pattern and scalloped rims. All marked "SEMI-VITREOUS / BUFFALO POTTERY", with date marks ranging from 1907-1909.Together with one copy of "The Book of Buffalo Pottery" by Seymour and Violet Altman. Four pieces total. Excellent undamaged condition. Expected glaze crazing and some staining. Book with light wear to edges.

Catalogue Note: The "Blue Willow" pattern is said to be based on the Chinese story of a young girl who runs away with a young man, only for both of them to be killed by the man who the young girl was betrothed to through an arranged marriage. The doves represent the souls of the two young lovers. The "Blue Willow" pattern has been popular since the 18th century.
