MASSACHUSETTS, 1854-1943
An oil on canvas landscape painting by Massachusetts artist Theodore S. Slafter. The work depicts the Naumkeag estate in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. Naumkeag was the former county estate of Joseph Hodges Coates (1832-1917), attorney and former United States Ambassador to the United Kingdom. Slafter was a member and exhibited at the Boston Art Club. The painting is signed in the lower left corner "Slafter".
Provenance: Purchased through RISD "Art for Your Collection" from Carl L. Crossman, Danvers, Massachusetts on December 13th, 1989.
Dimensions: Canvas measures 9" by 10 3/4", overall 18 5/8" by 19 5/8"
