Description
Manufactured in Yonkers, NY. Appoximately 5,000 were manufactured in the early 1860's. Features: five shot, single action and octagon barrel. Finish is basically brown and speckled gray patina, barrel markings are faint. Serial number is not readable. Brass trigger guard is misshapen. Original nipples. Needs mechanical attention. Visible rifling in bore. According to the consignor and an old index card, the handmade grips were made from the "Spy Oak", a famous tree that stood beside the Borough House, headquarters for General Green during the American Revolution and witnessed the hanging of at least nine British spies. It appears as if an inscription was along the back strap but is no longer readable. An interesting and scarce Civil War era revolver seldom seen.
