U.S. Senator John F. Kennedy Thanks a Campaign Worker
JOHN FITZGERALD “JACK” KENNEDY also "JFK" (May 29, 1917 – November 22, 1963). 35th President of the United States, serving from 1961 until his Assassination in Dallas in November of 1963. He also served as both U.S. Representative (1947-1953) and Senator (1953-1960) from Massachusetts.
January 30, 1953-Dated Typed Letter Signed, "John Kennedy" as U.S. Senator from Massachusetts, 1 page, Quarto, upon official "United States Senate" Letterhead Stationery, about 8" x 10.375", Choice Extremely Fine. Written to "Mary," Kennedy pens, in full:

"Dear Mary:

Since I have been moving about continuously since the election, I have been delayed in writing to tell you how much I appreciate your assistance during the campaign. I am certain we could never have been succesiful against the Republican sweep if it had not been for the effectiveness of our Organization, an organization, in my opinion, which was the best that the state had ever seen.

I fully realize that this victory was won by people such as yourself who carried out the many arduous but necessary tasks which constitute political success, and I am very grateful for everything you did.

I am looking fo1ward to seeing you sometime soon to thank you personally. I hope you will let me know if there is ever anything I can do.

With every good wish for the New Year, Sincerely,

John F. Kennedy"

Just beneath, Kennedy has added this Handwritten Postscript: "Many thanks Mary for your help."

In 1952, 35-year-old John Kennedy ran for the U.S. Senate with the slogan "Kennedy will do more for Massachusetts." In an upset victory, he defeated Republican incumbent Henry Cabot Lodge, Jr. by a margin of about 70,000 votes, bucking the national Republican sweep that accompanied Eisenhower's landslide victory. We went on to a second term in the senate before winning the White House in 1960.

This excellent Letter from early in Kennedy's political career, in which he shows the personal

attention and thoughtful consideration for his supporters that would bring him greater political

victory in the coming years. Extremely clean and vivid with deep blue type and has a nice clear “John Kennedy” signature.
John Fitzgerald "Jack" Kennedy (May 29, 1917 – November 22, 1963), often referred to by his initials JFK, was the 35th President of the United States, serving from 1961 until his assassination in 1963.

After military service as commander of the Motor Torpedo Boats PT-109 and PT-59 during World War II in the South Pacific, Kennedy represented Massachusetts's 11th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1947 to 1953 as a Democrat. Thereafter, he served in the U.S. Senate from 1953 until 1960. Kennedy defeated then Vice President and Republican candidate Richard Nixon in the 1960 U.S. presidential election. He was the youngest elected to the office, at the age of 43, the second-youngest President (after Theodore Roosevelt), and the first president to have been born in the 20th century. Kennedy is the only Catholic president, and is the only president to have won a Pulitzer Prize. Events during his presidency included the Bay of Pigs Invasion, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the building of the Berlin Wall, the Space Race, the African American Civil Rights Movement, and early stages of the Vietnam War.

Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963, in Dallas, Texas. Lee Harvey Oswald was charged with the crime, but was shot and killed two days later by Jack Ruby before a trial could take place. The FBI, the Warren Commission, and the House Select Committee on Assassinations officially concluded that Oswald was the lone assassin, with the HSCA allowing for the possibility of conspiracy based on disputed acoustic evidence. Today, Kennedy continues to rank highly in public opinion ratings of former U.S. presidents. (From Wikipedia)
