Pieter Angillis (1685-1734)
Pieter Angillis was a Wallonian painter and draftsman from the port city Dunkerque in the north of France. The artist got a lot around during his life: He was active as a painter in Flanders, Germany, Italy, England and France. His oeuvre mainly shows genre paintings, market scenes, still lifes as well as landscapes with staffage. Typical for the artist are narrative scenes with many figures and the delicacy and freshness of the color of his paintings. (msc)
