Description
IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD THE REAL DEAL - Plastic Inevitable Show, The Trip, May 1966. This reproduction is of a poster for The Trip, Los Angeles, 3-18 May 1966. It advertises Andy Warhol’s Plastic Inevitable Show, a multimedia event, featuring The Velvet Underground And Nico. In March 1966, the show was initially named the Erupting Plastic Inevitable, but quickly changed its name to the Exploding Plastic Inevitable. This poster bills it as the Plastic Inevitable Show. The Mothers Of Invention were the opening act. However, before 18 May during the run of the show, The Trip was closed due to debts. Reviews of the Plastic Inevitable Show were bad. The Newsweek cover (dated 25 April 1966) featured on the poster was designed by Roy Lichtenstein. The children in the bottom right hand corner are the Campbells soup kids. This print measures approx. 10 x 14.
