IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD THE REAL DEAL - The Seed, Red Dog Saloon, June – August 1965. This reproduction of what is acknowledged as the first psychedelic dance poster, is known as The Seed. It features The Charlatans at the Red Dog Saloon, Virginia City, Nevada. There are two versions of the poster. The first was printed with blue ink and shows the dates for the shows as 1-15 June. The opening was delayed until 21 June and so an amended poster was produced printed in black ink. Life at the Red Dog began to resemble the Wild West fuelled by drugs (LSD was legal at this time). The engagement went on into August, but was brought to a close when the guitarist, Mike Wilhelm, was busted for pot and the authorities began to take an interest in the activities at the Red Dog. The poster was designed by Charlatans members George Hunter and Michael Ferguson. This print measures approx. 10 x 14.
