Description
Pre-Columbian, Costa Rica, ca. 500 to 1500 CE. A beautiful tripod jar with a saurian design to the legs. Three curved spikes rise from the back of each saurian; a stippled design gives their bodies texture underneath huge eyes. The body of the bowl itself is also decorated with a stippled design and circles that echo the shape of the eyes underneath the rim. A flat, flared rim gives the vessel an open and welcoming shape alongside its whimsical legs. Size: 8" W x 3.5" H (20.3 cm x 8.9 cm)
