Description
S-026 U.S. Army Air Force WWII lot of Tech Sgt. Talbert A. DeHaven, a member of a B-24 Bomb Squadron, 376th Bomb Group. Included are: (1) Two Army Officer tunics (DeHaven later was promoted). One has no insignia and the other has gilt "U.S." and winged prop collar insignia, sterling Bombadier Wings, Air Medal and European Theater ribbon bars, two oak leaf clusters, 1st Lt. shoulder bars and a Theater made bullion 8th AF shoulder patch. Tailor labels indicates tunic was made in Glasgow, Scotland. (2) Medals: Distinguished Flying Cross engraved "S/SGT. T.A. DeHaven - 515 BOMB SQDR. 1-1-43"; Air Medal with an oak leaf cluster, reverse has "V" shaped engraving - "T/SGT. TALBERT A. DeHAVEN A.C."; medal bar with both of the above ribbons, Air Medal has two oak leaf clusters and European Theater has four stars; DFC ribbon; Air Medal lapel bar and a Memorial Medal. (3) "AMERICAN HEROES OF THE WAR IN THE AIR" by Howard Mingos. 1943 publication. Talbert A. DeHaven is mentioned in this edition. (4) Large grouping of I.D. cards, letters, instructions, notification of awards, certificates, bombing tables, flight records, photographs (aircraft, training, comrades, etc). Also several Italian fascist propaganda leaflets. All in two period military brief cases. An interesting group. II
