Description
A large Late Roman – Byzantine single-handled amphora, c. 4th – 6th Century AD, in a brown ware, the ovoid body with horizontal ribbing and a single wide handle, the neck very narrow with flattened rim. H: 17 in (43.2 cm). A well-preserved and attractive vessel with mottled surface deposits, old collection number in white paint on the side of the body. Comes with attractive metal stand and makes an excellent display piece for home or office. Ex Rice collection, Southern California.
