Description
A lovely Roman Samian-ware jug, c. 2nd – 3rd Century AD, the body tapering to a rounded ring foot, sharply carinated shoulders with herringbone pattern below lines, the neck nicely ringed with wide moth and single handle. A very handsome piece with very well-preserved surfaces. The produce of a very skilled potter. H: 10 5/8 in (27 cm). A nice example with light deposits. Ex West London, UK private estate.
