Description
Pre-Columbian, Costa Rica, Guanacaste / Nicoya region, ca. 100 to 500 CE. A beautiful avian celt, finely carved from a single piece of mottled greenstone, depicting a rather unusual triple-headed avian figure, the uppermost head with a crest that is nicely incised with feather markings, the upper two visages with rounded eyes, the lowest with a prominent, ridged beak. Laterally pierced behind the neck of the middle bird head and behind the beak of the lowest head. Custom stand. Size: 5.625" H (14.3 cm); 6.125" H (15.6 cm) on stand
