Description
Standard glaze lidded teapot decorated with wild roses extending onto the lid, the work of Kate Matchette in 1894. Marks include the Rookwood logo, which indicates the date, shape 329, an impressed W for White clay and the artist's incised initials. The lid is unmarked. There is fine overall crazing, a couple areas with dry crazing, a small chip on the underside of the spout and tiny color skips on the lid handle. Height is 5 1/2 inches. The glaze has an oil spot iridescence to it that we've not previously seen on Standard glaze pieces.
