Description

Three gem-size ferrotype portraits of 1864 Democratic candidate George B. McClellan, each set in brass surround. Comprises: 1.) Uniface circular name portrait in brass surround reading "For President" with stick pin on reverse. 2.) Uniface rectangular name portrait in brass surround ornamented with stars and beaded edge. Retains stick pin on reverse. 3.) Gem-size portrait of McClellan, in uniform, set in ornate brass shell badge surround.

Condition

All ferrotypes exhibit imperfections. Round portrait poorly resolved (as made) and with overall spots and light abrasions. Rectangular portrait darkened in multiple spots. Shell badge ferrotype off-center in frame (as made) with overall crazing.
