Description
Three gem-size ferrotype portraits of 1864 Democratic candidate George B. McClellan (and one with running mate George Pendleton), each set in brass surround. Comprises: 1.) Rare campaign badge with ornate brass frame attached to flag-motif ribbon and suspended from eagle-form pinback brass hanger bar. 2.) Back-to-back name portraits of McClellan and Pendleton in brass surround reading "For President / For Vice President." 3.) Gem-size portrait of McClellan in uniform, set in ornate brass shell badge surround.
Condition
Ribbon badge in fair condition for a rare piece. Ferrotype with multiple dark spots bears a faded ribbon though brass elements remain good condition with only pitting and light verdigris. Back-to-back portrait with McClellan portrait bears multiple imperfections. Pendleton portrait in very good condition with light overall crazing and some darkening near top edge. Shell badge ferrotype bears some spots and imperfections, overall good.
