Description
A nickel plated conductor lantern made by F. O. Dewey & Sons of Boston. It also has an August 31, 1875 patent date stamped on the base. The photos make the frame and globe seem to be oblong, it's just camera distortion. It stands square and the globe is completely normal. This bellbottom model has a nice rolled edge on the lid with a few steps to it as you reach the edge. The plating shows age. It has an undersized threaded pot that has a soft washer of some kind. The bell has one minor stress crack that runs vertically.
The nice free blown globe measures 5" of visible area (not including the extended base), 2 5/8" base diameter and 2 1/4" top diameter. It's larger than most globes. Is this called a Queen size? It displays well.
