Description
Latin America, Mexico, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. An old, hand-crafted wooden nicho with doors that open to a kneeling figure inside, perhaps Jesus given the stigmata and graphic blood flowing from his chest, wavy tresses, and beard. The figure is finely carved and painted with a green lower garment with a red tinged sash, gold leaf on the coiffure and areas of upper body, and finely delineated facial features. Size: 4.5" W x 7.25" H (11.4 cm x 18.4 cm)
